Hi, I’m Casie.
And before I tell you anything about my training, I want to tell you about the summer I stopped recognizing my own body – because there’s a good chance you’ll see yourself in it.
It was the middle of summer. Three kids at home, my husband deployed for the ninth time, the whole household on me. That part wasn’t new. My body was the new part.
I was eating the same. Exercising the same. And yet the weight was settling into my middle almost overnight, and I couldn’t explain it. I woke up exhausted after eight hours of sleep. I needed a nap by one o’clock. I was snapping at my kids over nothing – and every little noise felt like too much.
I’m a dietitian. I should’ve known better. But I’m a human first – and I was drowning in symptoms that nobody, including me, had connected.
Then I went looking for real answers. And one by one, things that had felt random for years started clicking into place. The cystic acne traced back to a supplement I thought was helping me. The vertigo and the flushing turned out to be histamine. The exhaustion no amount of sleep could touch? Turned out I’d been living with undiagnosed sleep apnea – my body never actually rested. Nothing about it was broken. It had been trying to tell me something the whole time – I just hadn’t learned how to listen yet.
That’s the work I do now.
Because here’s what I noticed after years inside the conventional healthcare model: practitioners are very good at saying “you have this.” They rarely ask the deeper question – “WHY do you have this?”
Functional nutrition starts with that question. It’s root-cause detective work – decoding complex symptoms instead of just managing them. And it starts with you, as a whole person. Your story, your history, your symptoms, your labs, your mindset, your beliefs about your own health. I specialize in what connects them ALL – zooming out, seeing the big picture, and finally making it make sense.
A few words on my qualifications, because women’s health is a complex science and you deserve support from someone trained in it: I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics from the University of New Hampshire in 2007, completed my Dietetic Internship in San Diego, and passed my national boards to become a Registered & Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in 2008. Most recently, I completed an extensive certification in Women’s Integrative & Functional Medicine from 2024-2026 – because what conventional nutrition couldn’t fix, I went and got trained in what could.
